The BEST Affordable Healthcare Insurance!

I’m writing this blog because it hurts me to the depths of my soul when I hear someone say “I have to work to be able to afford health insurance.”

This is the overwhelming majority of people and I just wish I could shout to the world and say “THERE IS A BETTER WAY”. God didn’t intend for us to be outside of our homes and away from our spouses and babies as much as we are… especially if it is just to pay for health insurance.

I hope this blog gives you hope and restores your freedom to live out the calling of God on your life.

I still remember her telling me that her family paid $700/month for health insurance for herself, her hubby, and her 2 children.

At that time, $700/month was half of my salary and I was supporting both Dustin and I on one income while he finished school.

Luckily, Dustin got health insurance through the school and my parents still allowed me to be on theirs.

But I knew one day that we would be responsible for it all.

Fast forward to last year when we moved back to NC, we had to find an affordable option for Dustin since our church doesn’t have a group policy.

What a task!!

Of course, the first place I looked was through the federal database and found that he would be paying nearly $550 JUST. FOR. HIM.

I thought to myself: there had to be a better way!

After a little more research, I found an option that was around $300 and in comparison to $550, I was excited!

But still. $300 for just one person?!
Seemed like so much money to me.

Enter God.

Through a friend of ours that owned his own landscaping business and a podcast I follow about entrepreneurship, I found out about a company called:
Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM).

After researching them, I found out that their most expensive “package” was $150… HALF of what we were already paying.

But then I started to dig deeper and fell in LOVE with this organization.

It’s actually not truly “insurance” in the way that other insurance companies function.

It is a group of thousands of Christians sharing one another’s burdens as it comes to their healthcare costs.

Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love].
— Galatians 6:2 AMP
Now the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one [of them] claimed that anything belonging to him was [exclusively] his own, but everything was common property and for the use of all... There was not a needy person among them, because those who were owners of land or houses were selling them, and bringing the proceeds of the sales and placing the money down at the apostles’ feet. Then it was distributed to each as anyone had need.
— Acts 4: 32, 34-35

What a beautiful, GENIUS idea!

Needless to say, we signed Dustin up right away.

But then I got to thinking about my dream of walking away from full-time nursing.

Because of this ministry, that would now be possible!! #thankyouJesus

So after God spoke to me about stepping down to PRN nursing, I was able to follow His call.

And now I hope to spread the message of freedom that CHM offers!

For more information about Christian Healthcare Ministries, you can visit their website here!

One of the coolest things is that the have a “package” (they call them “programs”) for only $45/month/person! How amazing for families that have multiple children!!

Another thing I love about this organization is that they believe in carrying your own load as the Bible commands.

I think a lot of our culture has started to depend on the government to help them while we were meant to care for our own families.

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
— 1 Timothy 5:8
Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
— Ephesians 4:28

Please note that I do not make any money by sharing about CHM, I just sincerely love this organization.

If you do decide to give CHM a try, please let them know I sent you. If you do, I get a month for free! And the same goes for you if you join and share it with someone else ;)
